5 Things You Should Never Do To Your Contact Lenses.
Every contact lens user knows the drill. From washing hands to putting it on carefully and cleaning them with some solution while taking them off. But most of you do not actually follow the vigilant hygiene measures told by the doctor. Once you get over the rather horrifying prospect of putting a piece of plastic onto the surface of your eyeball, one takes it easy. Some of the hygiene measures when ignored cause serious eye problems. Here are 5 things you should never do to your contact lenses. - Never handle your contact lenses without washing your hands. If you touch your contacts without washing your hands, you transfer bacteria to the lens. Always wash your hands before putting your contacts on and again before removing them. - Never leave makeup on your contact lenses. While putting on eye-liner or that Kajal pencil, a bit of it might smudge onto the contacts. Don't overlook it, take out your contact lens, then clean and put them on again. - Do not wear lenses if your eyes are red, irritated, teary, painful, light sensitive, or if you have sudden blurred vision or discharge. If these symptoms don't clear up in a few days, see your ophthalmologist. - Never go into water with your lenses on. Swimming pools and showers might be contaminated with bacteria and amoebae that can devastate your eyes if you don't disinfect your contact lenses properly. If you have to shower with your contacts on, try to keep your eyes closed as much as possible and clean them afterwards. - When you first started using contact lenses, you had the best intentions and were vigilant about keeping your lenses clean and properly cared for. But eventually, you started to slack off the hygienic measures. This could have grave and serious consequences on your eye-catching health. Always clean out your case with fresh contact lens solution, wipe it out and let it dry completely. Never top off the old solution in your lens case with new solution. Every single time you use your contact lens case, rinse it out and soak it in fresh solution.

Healthy evolution of the inner being
'To create happiness outside, you must cultivate happiness inside. To create richness outside, you must cultivate it inside.' Doctors claim that most of the diseases presently are psychosomatic, i.e. mind sickening the body. In today's world, health is no longer being determined by physical illness. Rather, it is a projection of one's personality as a whole. The moment word 'well-being' comes into play, it makes the entire aspect very holistic and the spectrum of health very wide. This makes us think, about what actually human body constitutes. The human body is not limited to the physical dimension. 'Well-being' brings emotional, mental, psychological, and spiritual dimensions to the forefront. Evolution has always been a much-talked-about topic, but we need to ponder on where this evolution is happening actually. In the external shape of the human body, evolution is very slow, maybe something noticeable in millions of years. Yogic science takes a different turn and says that evolution is indeed happening in the manas (mind), buddhi (intellect), chitt (consciousness), and ahankar (ego). For the healthy evolution of these, they suggest a person meditate. Meditation transforms a continuous thinking mind into a feeling mind. The continuous flickering nature of the mind is responsible for many of its impressions, depressions, and distortions in our system. Once the thinking mind transforms into a feeling mind a person becomes more peaceful and concentrated. This way, the intellect gains wisdom. Thereafter, instead of being confused in the infinite store of knowledge, your inner being guides you thoroughly. The discretion power of the self improves and a person evolves in a different way. After attaining wisdom, our inner being awaits more. The next steps to evolution are in the chitt (consciousness) and ahankar (ego) which take us to the epitome of enlightenment. Wait to read what your inner being awaits in my next post. Till then, happy evolving! ...

Are you taking the right steps to turn your toddler from a fussy eater to an easy-going eater?
Is your toddler a fussy eater? Research indicates that 27% of toddlers are fussy eaters. And 30% of toddlers refuse to eat vegetables. So what makes these children dislike food? According to a study conducted by Bristol university, late introduction of semi-solid foods leads to fussy eating habits. If you are not introducing semi-solid food into your baby's diet by the age of 10 months, then you are decreasing his or her chances of developing healthy food eating habits. It is imperative for parents to introduce the right mix of wholegrain, fruit, and vegetables as soon as they are six months. Help him develop a taste for new foods However, feeding the right foods to your child is always a challenge. It is not necessary that your toddler will like the taste of every new food in the first go. Toddlers tend to follow in the footsteps of their parents. If you are a fussy eater or if you binge on junk food, it is likely that your kids will do the same. In addition, if you are restricting yourself to a narrow range of foods, your child will copy. We take a look at the latest trends of how to transform your toddler from a fussy eater to an easy-going eater. 1.Introduce finger foods- Toddlers like to chew on things, which does not interrupt their playing routine. Finger foods like sliced cucumber, diced melon, boiled potato balls, and sautéed broccoli and carrot, come as a rescue here. Just give him a few in his hands while he is busy playing. 2.Ensure eating as a family-Setting a mealtime routine and eating as a family reinforces the culture of eating food. Your toddler sees you as a role model. If he sees you eating healthy food on a regular time, then he is likely to copy you. 3.Use mason jars and bright plates-A food that looks beautiful will attract your toddler's attention. Put hung curd, oats, a variety of fruits, and some honey in a mason jar and serve it to your child. Toddlers love to see layers of food. This makes mealtime more fun for them. 4.Replace dinner with breakfast menu-Kids love breakfast such as pancakes, muffins, omelets', oats and Dalai. Try replacing heavy dinners with easy-to-eat breakfast that not only tastes good but also looks good.
Granny Says It Right!
Did you know that most of your Grandma's Gharelu Nuskhes are backed by Science and Logic? India is a land of traditions and beliefs. Some of these traditions are easy to understand while we regard others as baseless and superstitious. Due to our present scientific understanding and judgments we tend to question many age-old practices. However, most of the beliefs were based on the scientific observation by wise yogis and rishis of ancient India. The time-honoured yogic science certainly had an excellent understanding of human body and its functioning. Knowledge-based legends were created by these intelligent yogis to make people understand scientific things in an easy way. Its time that we realize the wisdom of these practices and turn back to them to make ourselves healthier. Here's a logical explanation to some health related 'superstitions' - Don't Position Your Head In The North While Sleeping - The Earth has a magnetic field with a positive pole in the North and a negative pole in South. Similarly, human body has its own magnetic field with positive pole in the North and negative pole in South. When we face North while sleeping, the North poles of Earth and our body repel. Since the Earth's magnetic force is higher, we always lose. The cells in our body breakdown and we wake up with a heaviness. In the long term, this leads to blood pressure and cardiovascular problems. When we face in the southern direction, there is mutual attraction and we wake up fit and fresh.- Don't Take A Bath Just After Having Meals - While bathing, your body cools down due to evaporation of water from the skin surface. To compensate this, the blood flow to the skin of hands and legs increases. Now, in the process of digestion the blood flow to the gut and brain has to increase. Thus, if you bathe after a meal the amount of blood in the gut will decrease. This is potentially harmful as it will weaken your digestion.- Swallow Tulsi Leaves, Never Chew Them - According to Hindu folklore, Tulsi is the wife of Lord Vishnu, hence chewing Tulsi leaves is disrespectful. No doubt that Tulsi leaves have numerous health benefits, but chewing them is indeed harmful. Basil leaves contains trace amounts of arsenic which can lead to degradation and yellowing of your teeth enamel if chewed.- Greet With A Namaskar - When the palms are joined in the gesture of Namaskar, the tips of all the fingers also join. Fingertips are denoted as pressure points of eyes, ears, and mind. Pressing those means we become attentive to the person and can remember them for a longer time. Also, there is no transmission of germs as we don't make a physical contact while greeting the person.- Have Curd And Sugar Before Heading Out For A Task - The digestive and cooling properties of curd combined with instant glucose from sugar, makes us more energetic to gear up for a task. When we are more energetic, good luck and positivity follow naturally. Long before other systems of medicine came into existence, our Indian Vedas and yogis knew it all. Some Indian practices are valuable and far ahead of the existing medical technology. These are well explained in old literature and have stood the test of time. Trusting the wisdom of the elderly can lead to a healthier life!
